Homer, the legendary poet credited with composing The Iliad and The Odyssey around the 8th century BCE, remains a figure of mystery. His birthplace is unknown, and some scholars even debate whether he was a single person or a collective tradition of storytelling.
The Iliad recounts the dramatic events of the Trojan War, focusing on the conflict between the Greek forces, led by Agamemnon, and the defenders of Troy. Its companion epic, The Odyssey, follows the Greek hero Odysseus on his perilous journey home to Ithaca, navigating trials, mythical creatures, and divine interventions along the way.
